Operation: Power truck

We have been working on, and cleaning the heads. We have a few heads that we could possibly use, and here they are:

Here, both of the heads you've seen in the previous blog, are cleaned, and ready to go. We are hoping to buy the correct tools so we can assemble them ourselves.

Here they are again.

Here is the small block.

Operation: Power truck

So, right now, our latest project is the '79 Chevy Cheyanne. What we are working on is the body, and engine. What we want is more power, and good looks. For the look of the truck, we want it to be a Dale Earnhardt color scheme; red, black, and white. We also want it to be a perfect tow rig; more power means we can tow more efficiently.

Here's the work from yesterday:

We got new heads from the junkyard. Here, things are taken out to be cleaned and polished.

Here is the other head. This one has been cleaned.
2

The driver, and passenger fenders are beat from four-bying, so we went to the junkyard and found the fenders that would fit.
3

As you see here, we have started to take the paint off.
4

We went and bought brand new springs and spring retainers.
5

Here are the new rocker arms.
6

.. and push rods.
7

We like chrome, so we bought a brand new chrome oil pan. (This picture isn't so great.)
8

At this point, we are cleaning out the head, and searching for possible leak areas.
9

Ahhh, much better.

Tune in for more progress.

Mmmmmm.. fossil fuels..

Hello car freaks, my name is Chazzy Chaz Hetfield.

Well, that's my nickname.

My real name is Carrera Holden. Yes, Carrera as in the Carrera Porsche. You would think being named after a Porsche would mean that I'd automatically grow up to love cars. Well, you are right.

My dad grew up loving cars, and his parents had many amazing cars. Cars that, in today's world, would make you stop and stare as drool runs down your face. He then got into Nascar; his favorite driver later became Dale "The Intimidator" Earnhardt, before it was cool to like him.

He owned many cars as he got older, and loved to go fast, and sometimes, almost too fast. He loves cars, end of story.

Then he had me.

His favorite car in the whole world is a Porsche. He said that if I was a boy, my name would be Targa, and if I was a girl, I'd be Carrera. Now, if a real car guy, or girl, is reading this, you know that Targa is a Porsche thing. (Obsessed? I'd say so.)

As I grew up, (and still growing), I remember always being in the garage with my dad. He always had a car to work on, and I'd be right next to him as he worked. As years went by, I began to love cars more and more. And today, I'm still learning, and appreciating the wonders of cars.

We have/had many cars:

  • Many, many Vegas
  • '79 Chevy Cheyanne
  • '63 Chevy Nova
  • '66 Pontiac GTO
  • '60 Volkswagen Beetle
  • '70 Volkswagen Beetle
  • '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass

And the list goes on, and on, and on.The main reason that I have started this blog is to document the progress we have made on our many vehicles. The cars/trucks I am most documenting are:

  • '79 Chevy Cheyanne
  • '63 Chevy Nova
  • '66 Pontiac GTO
  • '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Here they are!
